A free family tree app the whole family builds together
Most family tree apps are built for one researcher at a computer. Kinrooted is built for the whole family: everyone adds their own side, and the tree grows every time someone joins.

What is free
- Building your tree, with as many relatives and generations as you like.
- Inviting family and connecting their sides.
- Family chat, the Kin Wall, reunions, events and RSVPs.
- Photos, videos, life notes and stories on every profile.
- Importing a GEDCOM file and downloading your tree as GEDCOM any time.
How it works
- Start with your own name. Kinrooted asks for a few close relatives and labels each one: mother, grandfather, first cousin.
- Invite relatives by email or link. They add their side, so nobody has to know everyone.
- Kinrooted spots people added twice and merges them with undo, so the tree stays clean.
Why families choose it
- Private to your family by default.
- Works on any phone or computer, in 38 languages.
- Signs you in with a code sent to your email. No password and no credit card.
Questions
Is Kinrooted really free?
Yes. The family tree, connecting relatives, chat, reunions and family history are free for every family. Optional extras such as printed keepsakes in the Shop cost money; your own family never sits behind a paywall.
How many people can my tree have?
There is no small limit. Families with hundreds of relatives use one tree, and imports from Ancestry and other apps keep everyone.
Do I need to download an app?
No. Kinrooted runs in the browser on any phone or computer, and you can add it to your home screen like an app.
